YAY! I just mailed out my application for an absentee ballot today for November’s election. Super excited to exercise my Americanness from across the sea.
On that note *begin semi-nonpartisan rant*, there is no excuse that any of you residing in the states won’t vote. If you are super busy working bunches of jobs or unable to reach your polling place on election day, you can early vote or get an absentee ballot yourself! Now, I know, I know, above the local level many of the options are not what any of us would prefer, but, unless you are willing to start a revolution (which isn’t an awful idea), these are the options we have.
Something I try to remind myself of often is that you have to live within the system to a certain extent so just do what you can. One of those things that you can do is VOTE! 🙂 We need to get intelligent, compassionate people with a desire to look out for the needs of ALL people in our positions of power. This IS important. Even if you don’t have money, you have a vote. It doesn’t mean a lot, but it means something and gives us a sense of participation if nothing else. Vote. *end rant…for now*
Miss you all!
